Greenstock to Serve Up Chef-Inspired Salads in Downtown St Pete

Greenstock will be located at 449 Central Avenue (formerly Kalamazoo Olive Company)

Downtown St. Pete is chock full of great food. Whether you’re looking to grab a slice of pizza or indulge in fine dining, the options are plentiful. Yet, there are (surprisingly!) very few places to get food that is both quick and healthy.

For years I’ve been hoping for a fast-casual salad restaurant in Downtown St. Pete and now it seems I wasn’t the only one. This fall, a brand new salad concept will be joining the downtown dining scene from local restauranteurs Erica and David Benstock, along with Brooke and Peter Boyd, owners of Hype Group and Boyd Construction, respectively.

Greenstock will be located at 449 Central Avenue in a space formerly occupied by Kalamazoo Olive Company and a few steps away from IL Ritorno, a modern Italian eatery the Benstock’s opened back in 2013.

“Guests of Greenstock will find the same attention to detail and dedication to ingredient integrity that IL Ritorno is known for,” said David Benstock. “These are things we’ll never compromise on.”

The new restaurant is also directly across the street from the future site of Pinellas County’s tallest tower, 400 Central, which will add 300 condos and 225 hotel rooms to Downtown St. Pete’s urban core once complete. That project is expected to break ground in the second quarter of 2020.

Greenstock will feature chef-inspired salads, wraps, and house-made dressings, with a focus on the freshest ingredients. “When we say fresh, we truly mean it,” says Erica Benstock. “The dressings are all made in-house, the proteins are prepared fresh daily, and our produce will be the highest quality available.”

Customers are welcome to select one of the seven chef-inspired salads, or choose from an extensive list of over 50 ingredient options including lettuces, proteins, grains, cheeses, fruits and veggies. For those that are really “on-the-go,” they’ll roll it up in a wrap for you. Salads start at $9.

The development of Greenstock is truly a local effort. Building out the space will be Boyd Construction Company, a St. Pete based general contractor that has built numerous food and beverage concepts in the area, including Datz, Baba, Dr. BBQ, Ichicoro Ane, Fabrica, Cider Press Cafe, as well as the IL Ritorno expansion. Hype Group, whose resumé includes national brands along with St. Pete food and beverage staples like Green Bench Brewing, Pacific Counter, Grand Central Brewhouse, Min’s Matcha, MADE Coffee, Bodega and IL Ritorno, has created the branding for Greenstock. Behar Peteranecz is handling the architecture, and yet another St. Pete institution, T2theS, is handling Greenstock’s interior design.

An opening date has not been announced, but expect Greenstock to open their doors  this fall. Tentative hours of operation will be from Monday to Friday from 11AM until 8PM, and Saturday from 11AM until 6PM.
