Pilates gym [solidcore] to join the EDGE District in 2024
/A Pilates gym with over 110 locations in more than 25 states is coming to the EDGE District of downtown St. Petersburg. The St. Pete [solidcore] will be the sixth to debut in the Sunshine State and the first in Tampa Bay.
According to a news release, [solidcore] has leased 2,142 square feet on the ground level of the Moxy by Marriott Hotel, under construction at 1234-1246 Central Avenue. The gym will be open to hotel guests and the public.
The 1.6-acre, 163-key Moxy Hotel, a key part of the mixed-use EDGE Collective, is a joint venture between Miami-based PTM Partners and Fort Lauderdale-based and DoveHill Capital Management.
Founded in 2013, [solidcore] employs Pilates-inspired reformers to give customers a high-intensity but low-impact full-body workout.
“Seeking relevant retail and wellness lifestyle brands to bring to the EDGE District is an important part of facilitating our commercial strategy for this rapidly growing district,” said Shari Neissani, vice president of development at PTM Partners. “[solidcore]’s popularity and success across the U.S. makes this an in-demand addition, and the brand’s overall appeal makes it a great fit for the EDGE District’s diversified consumer base.”
A [solidcore] workout utilizes slow and controlled movements that are scientifically designed to break down muscles to failure so they build back stronger. Exercises target type 1, or slow-twitch, muscle fibers. As they break down, customers might experience the "shakes,” which is a good thing — it means muscles are getting stronger.
With continuous training, the low-impact, 50-minute workouts can improve your muscular endurance and produce noticeable muscle definition and an increase in overall muscular strength.
“Located at the Moxy Hotel EDGE Collective, [solidcore] is excited to bring the blue lights and its signature [shakes] to the St. Pete workout scene,” said Heidi Blesy, vice president of studio development at [solidcore]. “The EDGE District’s vibrancy and sense of community is the perfect place to welcome the first studio in the Tampa area.”
Expected to open in spring 2024, the Moxy Hotel’s other offering include a coffee shop and juice bar; health, wellness, and beauty spaces; a podcast studio, and an oversized lobby bar opening to Central Avenue. Additional hotel features include Sparrow, an 8,000-square-foot, retro-themed rooftop bar; a rooftop pool; and an outdoor garden and arcade that will host art, music, and wellness events.
In addition to the Moxy Hotel, the EDGE Collective project includes the redeveloped and modernization of the 110-year-old 1246 Central Avenue building with 8,000 square feet of ground-floor food and beverage and 16,000 square feet of office space.
St. Pete Rising recently announced PTM’s plans for EDGE Collective Phase II, which will include 350 luxury multifamily rentals, 45,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, and 260 parking spaces.
