Each of these developments is a residential tower project that is helping reshape the downtown St. Petersburg skyline. They are all above 20 stories tall and are in various stages of construction – some of the towers are nearing completion while others are just beginning to rise.

357-unit apartment tower Ascent St. Pete opens in downtown St. Pete

Two years after breaking ground, Ascent St. Pete, a luxury apartment tower that also features a hotel, has started moving in residents.

The $117 million, 36-story Ascent, located at 225 1st Avenue North, began pre-releasing its apartments in September last year, a few months after the project topped out at 378 feet.

Developed by South Carolina-based Greystar Real Estate Partners, the building features 357 apartments and a 172-key AC Hotel by Marriott, which Greystar recently sold to OTO Development for $60 million.

Downtown St. Pete’s newest rooftop bar Cane & Barrel to open in 2023

Downtown St. Pete’s newest rooftop bar will open early next year on top of the AC Hotel by Marriott, which is currently under construction at 110 2nd Street North.

The 172-key AC Hotel is part of Ascent St. Pete, a 36-story $117 million hotel and apartment tower being developed and constructed by Greystar Real Estate Partners. Headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, Greystar is the largest developer, manager, and builder of apartments in the United States.

Cane & Barrel, the hotel’s signature rooftop terrace bar, will be located on the 8th floor of the hotel. The bar will be inspired by Cuban heritage and is designed with the flora and fauna of Florida in mind. The bar’s interiors were designed by the California-based Ellis Adams Group.

Preleasing begins at downtown St. Pete’s newest apartment tower Ascent

Pre-leasing has begun for downtown St. Pete’s newest luxury apartment tower, Ascent St. Petersburg, located at 225 1st Avenue North on northwest corner of 1st Avenue North and 2nd Street.

A leasing center is now open at 212 2nd Street North in a space formerly occupied by The Bula Barua Gallery.

The 36-story mixed-use development broke ground in December 2020, topped out in April 2022, and expects to begin moving in new residents by January 2023 with final construction completed by May 2023.

Soaring to a height of 378 feet, Ascent St. Petersburg will be the tallest apartment building in downtown St. Pete and among the tallest overall.
