Barbershop chain with rock 'n' roll flair to open on Central Avenue in St. Pete's EDGE District
/The EDGE Collective, a mixed-use development anchored by a 163-key Moxy by Marriott hotel, has landed another commercial tenant – Floyd’s 99 Barbershop – a rock ‘n’ roll themed hair salon.
Located at 1234-1246 Central Avenue, the EDGE Collective is currently under construction and consists of a Moxy by Marriott hotel and a renovated four-story building at 1246 Central Avenue, which will contain 8,000 square feet of food and beverage space on the ground floor and 16,000 square feet of commercial space on the upper floors.
The Moxy hotel is expected to open sometime in the first half of 2024.
Previously announced tenants at the EDGE Collective include Rose’s Coffee Bar; solidcore, a pilates studio; and Sparrow, a bar and restaurant on the roof of the Moxy hotel.
Recently, PTM Partners, the developer behind the EDGE Collective, announced phase two of the project, which will include a new 20-story residential tower with 350 luxury apartments, as well as 45,000 square feet of additional commercial space, and 260 parking spaces.
The EDGE Collective’s latest tenant, Floyd’s 99 Barbershop, has more than 135 locations across the United States. The EDGE District salon will be located directly on Central Avenue and will be the chain’s first location in St. Petersburg, FL.
“Given the EDGE District’s rapid growth over the past five years, our strategy has been to ensure that all commercial spaces within our masterplan are aligned to best serve the community’s needs,” said Shari Neissani, Vice President of Development, PTM Partners. “Floyd’s is a standout business that resonates in the markets it serves.”
What differentiates Floyd’s is its rock ‘n’ roll theming with photos of artists plastered across the wall, from Elvis to Eminem, and often, music blaring.
Tampa Bay local Stephanie Noyes and her family hold the exclusive franchise development rights for Floyd’s 99 Barbershop in the Tampa Bay area. They previously opened a Floyd’s in Safety Harbor in October 2023.
“Being life-long residents of Tampa Bay, we have experienced St. Pete’s transformation first-hand and are thrilled to open our next Floyd’s 99 Barbershop in the growing EDGE District,” said Stephanie Noyes. “The Moxy brand aligns perfectly with our fun, music-themed barbershop providing differentiated customer experiences.”
Floyd’s 99 Barberhop was founded in Denver, Colorado, by brothers Bill, Rob, and Paul O’Brien, who were frustrated by what they saw as a lack of options in the hairstyling industry. “The options were: Go to your grandfather’s barbershop or an upscale salon; there wasn’t much in between,” Floyd’s website states.
Floyd’s, according to the company’s website, offers “a full menu of services for everyone, including haircuts, hair color, fades, beard trims, straight razor shaves, and signature massage shampoo, finishing every service with a relaxing shoulder massage.”
Haircuts typically range in price from $14 for a simple trim of the bangs to $56 for a full-service cut, which includes a shampoo massage. A wide variety of hair coloring and highlighting treatments are also available. Men can get an express shave for $22 or a classic shave with straight razor and hot towel for $39.
Waxing services — for brows, chins, ears, lips, and noses — are also available at Floyd’s 99 Barbershop. Brow and nose waxes cost $15 while the other waxing services cost $12. A package of three waxing services costs $35.
