Community-focused restaurant Zoie’s coming soon to the Grand Central District

Zoie’s will be located at 2245 Central Avenue in the Grand Central District

A new restaurant is coming soon to the Grand Central District with the aim of creating an immersive dining and entertainment experience that celebrates all beliefs and walks of life. Located at 2245 Central Avenue, which was formerly Father and Son’s A/C and Heating, Zoie’s hopes to use community and events to spread a message of inclusivity. Jenna Malowany of KW Commercial represented Zoie’s in the lease transaction.

“With so much uncertainty and chaos in the world, I want Zoie’s to be a place where everyone is comfortable no matter how different or displaced they may feel,” said Zoie’s owner, Jeff Baker.

At Zoie’s, which was named after Baker’s pup, everything from the food, drinks, service, and décor will make customers feel like they’re enjoying a warm and cozy meal at home with their family and loved ones.

“We want the restaurant to be an extension of your home. When you come through the door, it’s about we and us. There is no I or you,” emphasized Baker.

Although the menu is still under development, and even the type of cuisine is being kept secret, expect Zoie’s to bring new twists to familiar classics for lunch, dinner, and late night dining. Baker promises the food at Zoie’s will be unique and something that no one else is offering in St. Pete.

Another way that Zoie’s will cultivate community is through events like comedy acts, art shows, drag brunch, and music that highlight local talent. Baker would also like to get the audience involved by hosting events such as a showtune sing-along.

“It will be like dueling pianos but with one piano,” Baker explains. “We want this to be a really immersive experience where you and your friends can have fun together.”

At almost 3,200 square feet, Zoie’s has ample space for people to meet, eat, and make memories. The expansive location will enable Zoie’s to have a 250 square foot stage, which is large enough for a catwalk down the center for weekly drag shows.

Although Zoie’s is an LGBTQ-owned business and will have a clear LGBTQ focus, there will also be a focus on straight communities as well.

“Peace, love, unity, and respect is what we are all about. Anyone who walks through the door and feels a little different, supports people who are different, or who just love the vibe are welcome at Zoie’s,” adds Baker.

Giving back to the St. Pete community is also extremely important to Baker. Employees of Zoie’s will be encouraged (and paid!) to take part in community service. Additionally, Zoie’s will give discounts to individuals working in the service industry on Mondays. There will also be a day for first responders like nurses, firefighters, police, and EMT.

Buildout on Zoie’s will begin in early 2022 with a grand opening planned for the spring, just in time for Easter and St. Pete Pride. Zoie’s will be open every day from 11:00 am to 3:00 am.
