Nitally’s Thai-Mex finds a new home…and it’s not in St. Pete

Nitally's old home on the corner of Central Avenue and 25th Street

Back in May, the owners of Nitally’s took to Facebook to announce the closure of their popular Thai-Mex fusion restaurant at 2462 Central Avenue in Downtown St. Pete. News traveled quickly thanks to Nitally’s cult-like following. After all, where else in town can you get a green curry burrito or panang mole?

Owners Nit Jintaseranee and Ally Valdez have spent the last 10 years building an audience for their own brand of cuisine. But unfortunately, the decision to shut down was out of their hands. Their building had been sold and the new owners chose to go in a different direction.

Nitally's is moving from Central Avenue in Downtown St. Pete to Gulfport Blvd in South Pasadena.

Today we’ve learned that Nitally’s will be reopening at 6800 Gulfport Blvd South #111 in South Pasadena. Not only will the Sunshine City staple not call St. Pete home anymore, but the new space will be 40% smaller and more efficient than their old Central Avenue digs. To make up for the smaller dining room, Nitallys will offer delivery for the first time ever — either through Uber Eats, Bite Squad or DoorDash.

Additionally, they are moving from a bustling downtown corridor to the corner of a shopping center by the beach. Without a doubt, when Nitally’s reopens, the vibe will be drastically different.

A selfish part of me was hoping to see Nitally’s stay in Downtown St. Pete. And maybe one day Nit and Ally will return to their roots, but until then we wish them the best of luck at their new South Pasadena home.
