St. Pete speakeasy The Saint to be transformed into The Ball, a pop-art-inspired bar and lounge
The Saint, a St. Pete speakeasy known for its moody dark red lighting and intimate atmosphere, will reopen as a new vibrant upscale cocktail lounge this winter.
Owner David Fischer, who founded a string of St. Pete LGBTQ-focused bars and destinations such as the Cocktail St. Pete nightclub and The Wet Spot pool bar, unveiled details this week of the new rebrand for The Saint at 49 24th Street North in the Grand Central District.
Parent company Pour Behavior and ZaZoo’d, Fischer's interior design team behind The Saint and other concepts, will transform the space into a new pop-art-inspired bar and lounge dubbed "The Ball," celebrating the symbolism behind the iconic disco ball.
“The disco ball is one of the most iconic queer motifs, particularly within LGBTQ+ nightlife. It acts as an enhancing invitation to meet others, dance freely, and be yourself…The design is pop-art inspired, not shying away from bold colors and vibrant accents, but perhaps the most notable feature will be the custom-designed disco ball DJ booth as the bar’s centerpiece," an announcement read.
The most notable feature at The Ball will be a custom-designed disco ball DJ booth as the bar's centerpiece, as well as a ceiling lined with glistening disco balls.
In addition to a carefully curated cocktail menu, The Ball will also serve light shareable dishes.
The Ball is scheduled to debut on November 9th.
Before the rebrand launch, The Saint will host its final service on October 20th as "Club Saint," a last-day celebration that will be "a divine dance club experience that will give as many sinners as possible the chance to experience The Saint one last time."
From October 22nd to November 2nd, patrons can enjoy Club Saint without making a reservation and following the required dress code requirements.
"The Saint may be gone, but the sins must continue," Pour Behavior said. "Our goal is to take just one week to completely transform the space into The Ball."
Pour Behavior intends to retain all of the employees at The Saint as it transitions to the new concept. The company will also hire additional new staff.
The team may auction select decor and antiques from The Saint with proceeds benefiting a local charity.
More details will be announced in the coming weeks.
