Topgolf begins construction in St. Petersburg
Construction has begun on the high-anticipated Topgolf facility at 220 Carillon Parkway in the Carillon business park of St. Petersburg, FL.
Topgolf is a high-tech driving range golf game where patrons can participate, or spectate, from climate-controlled bays with music, food, and drinks.
The Topgolf complex in St. Petersburg is expected to be 67,000 square feet with three floors, a restaurant and bar, along with a rooftop terrace and a fire pit. The facility will also have over 100+ all-weather bays, over 200 high-definition TVs, and 450 parking spaces according to the company’s website.
The facility was announced and received approval from the City of St. Petersburg in 2019. The entertainment complex was initially expected to open in 2020, however the project was put on hold when the Concerned Residents of Carillon, a neighborhood group opposing the development, challenged the city’s approval of the facility.
In 2021, Pinellas County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Ramsberger ruled in favor of the City of St. Petersburg and Topgolf which cleared the way for construction.
Currently, framing of the Topgolf building is underway and heavy construction equipment is on site.
According to permits filed with the City of St. Pete, Topgolf is estimated to cost over $13.5 million to construct.
Completion is estimated in 2023; however, no opening date has been announced.
Prior to construction, the property was vacant land owned by Western Reserve, a division of insurance company Aegon, which has offices in a nearby building.
In July 2019, FL ST PETERSBURG CARILLON LLC, an entity controlled by RealtyLink, LLC, purchased the 12-acre property for $11 million. RealtyLink, LLC is a full-service real estate development company that has developed several Topgolf facilities.
