400 Central Submits Plans to the City, Reveals New Rendering
Downtown St. Pete’s next skyscraper has moved one step closer to breaking ground. Earlier today, Red Apple Real Estate submitted a site plan application to the city for a major development at 400 Central Avenue.
Although announced back in 2016, the project has undergone multiple design iterations. According to the submitted site plan, the development will be anchored by a 45-story condo tower situated next to a 20-story hotel. 400 Central is expected to eclipse the current tallest skyscraper in Pinellas County, a 41-story ONE St Petersburg, which was completed in 2018.
The condo component will consist of approximately 300 one to four bedroom residences with wrap-around balconies and magnificent water views. The residential tower’s first-class amenities will include an expansive landscaped sundeck (with a pool, outdoor kitchen, dining space and dog park), a fitness center, spa and lounge. The orientation of the residential tower will allow for views of both Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.
The 20-story hotel will contain 225 rooms with over 15,000 square feet of banquet / meeting space and a rooftop pool with a casual dining area. It was previously announced that the hotel would be an Autograph Collection by Marriott.
25,000 square feet of retail space will be situated along Central Avenue and 4th Street North.
John Catsimatidis, President of Red Apple, listened to city leaders who were eager for more office and event space. The city is currently experiencing record low vacancy rates for class A office space in the downtown business district. As a result, there will be 20,000 sf of class A office with a dedicated entrance off Central Avenue
In order to accommodate the luxury condos, a full-service hotel, class A office, and ground-level retail space, over 800 parking spaces will be built.

With the site plan submission, we’ve also received an updated artistic rendering, which reveals a new design to the hotel component.
Pending approvals from appropriate agencies, Red Apple plans to break ground in 2020. Smith & Associates Real Estate will be the exclusive listing agent for the residential condominium units.
